What kind of watch is good for travelling? My criteria for a travel watch is as follows: 1. It must show at least 2 timezones simultaneously, and clearly...it is very easy to get confused when your biological time is upset, especially after travesing several timezones, and in a strange city. 2. It must feature luminous hands and hour markers. It is always too dark in the plane during the journey. changing the local time must be easily accomplished. I always adjust my watch to the destination time immediately after take-off when the pilot announces this. I much prefer push buttons whi...

Not having travel insurance can cost you more than just money Dont make the costly mistake of traveling without insurance. For most travelers, purchasing travel insurance is at the bottom of their to-do-lists when planning their vacations. Most of my writing (books and articles) has to do with travel and adventure; mainly events that are fun and exciting; things that cause memories with a chuckle. The reason I enjoy chronicling unusual and humorous things that happen to me in life is not so much from a desire to share my experiences with others, although I don't mind doing so. My real motivation is about giving me a way to relive some of my life's journey should I be inflicted with the fate that destroyed the memory and life of my mother. That is, I write for myself in the future; and secondarily for curious family members ...

Backing up your computer can be a pain in the rear! Well you know what I mean. If you are like me, then you always mean to "get around to it", but "around" somehow never comes. That was until one weekend and my hard drive failed, taking a very important project with it. Since the project was due that Monday, I frantically searched for the last backup to recover it. Much to my dismay, the backup was over a week old and I had done at least 20 hours of work on it since then. I spent the next 24 hours typing and redoing all that work! Since then I have been very careful to make backups as often as...

I love going on cruises. I don't get to do it very often because it is just so darn expensive. But I try to go about every three years, sometimes even if I can't afford it. It's such a great way to travel! One price covers my room, food, entertainment, and trips to a bunch of different ports in exotic locations. For a little more, I can go snorkeling, see ancient ruins, or swim with dolphins. Most of the time, I don't spend the extra money because the ship is so nice as it is. All that good food, movies, shows, and just some quiet time in the cruise lounge is mine for the taking. W...

Just like they say don’t mix drinking and driving, now it’s about the cell phone. No wonder, it isn’t safe to be answering calls or texting a message while driving, but with a handsfree, you can however be on the safer side. On July 1st, 2008, California will join many other states that restrict cell phone use while driving. California's new law says that if you’re over 18, you can only talk and drive "handsfree." If you’re under 18, you can’t talk on a cell phone at all while driving. If you’re caught, the first offense will cost you $20 but won't add points to your license. The law is ...

Spectacular sunsets draw people to the shore in the evenings. Check out Kavaratti, the administrative capital of Lakshadweep. Lakshadweep is the tiniest Union Territory of India and its only coral island chain. This archipelago consists of 36 islands, 12 atolls, three reefs and five submerged banks. Only 10 of these islands are inhabited – Amini, Andrott, Bitra, Chetlat, Kiltan, Agatti, Bangaram, Kadmat, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, and Minicoy. The last six are open to visitors. Getting there Indian Airlines operates flights from Kochi to Agatti six times a week ($120 on economy, one-way)....
