Your here now

For any business person, the concept of time management is an important one. The ability to capitalize on the time you have is proportionate to your success and productivity. While there are only 24 hours in a day, you cannot alter time but rather how you use that time. Here are some tips for your consideration.

1. Keep an Activities Log

Identify where your time goes by keeping a log of your activities each day. Be honest with this and you will have a snapshot of not only how much time you are wasting, but where it is going as well as how to claim that time back.

2. Make Rules and Follow Them

Now, that you know where all the wasted time is going, set a few ground rules to help you avoid burning through that much needed time. An example of those rules would be: Having the TV off, or not making any personal calls while accomplishing a task". After, you set your rules, follow them!

3. Schedule

Schedule your time out for the day. Set certain times for certain tasks. Leave enough time to get it done. Don't cut yourself short and cause yourself unreasonable stress. Notice when you get done, that way next time you need to accomplish the same task you know how long to schedule yourself.

4. Prioritize Your Tasks

Keep whats most important at the top of your schedule. Do those important tasks first. This helps reduce stress, knowing those urgent tasks have been done, and leaves you with a clear mind to focus and accomplish other tasks.

5. You Can Only Do One Persons Job

Delegation is probably the most overlooked aspect of time management. Look over your task list and see what can be either removed or passed to somebody else so your time is freed up for the more urgent things.

6. Avoid Being Overwhelmed

There is no need to get overwhelmed. If a big task comes along. Cut it into small parts. Getting each part done gives you a sense of accomplishment, and makes the task seem easier to do. Plus, if you get overwhelmed, it'll frustrate you, leaving you with a clouded mind, and makes it harder to focus, in-turn making the task taking longer to get done.

7. Avoid Procrastination

Don't procrastinate. Just get it done. You'll see that it takes less time to get this dreaded task done than you thought it would and leave you time for other things. Plus, you will spend more time procrastinating than actually doing the dreaded task.

8. Get Enough Sleep

Lack of sleep slows done our entire system. Our minds are cloudy, our bodies are tired, and we are easily irritated. This does not help managing time one bit. So get enough sleep, and your tasks will go by in a timely manner.

9. Exercise

Exercise not only clears the mind, but also gets the blood flowing, and releases endorphins. It readies us for these daily tasks. So, whether you go to a gym, simply walk around the block, or even just do some basic stretches at home, it will help get other things done quicker.

10. Take Scheduled Breaks

Make sure to schedule in some breaks through out the day. Your body and mind need time to recharge. Then, when you get back on task, you'll see that being refreshed helps you refocus your energies on whatever you may be doing.
