The "Secret" Myth

There is a myth that exists in the internet marketing world that some "secret" knowledge will instantly make you a millionaire and is as easy to work as a light switch. Products that further this myth say they can have you retiring in six month, eight months, a year with minimal effort. A belief that this knowledge is hidden from you and you've been constantly looking inthe wrong places for it also usually follows. They want you to buy from them, and trust them, because that other guy's product isn't as good.

The "secret" myth is perhaps the biggest in internet marketing. At this point, "secret" could be a buzzword. Along with "secret" are "discover" and "revealed", both of which imply some hidden knowledge to this business someone doesn't know yet. These words are primarily sales words designed to catch an unwitting potential prospect's attention and buy into the next big internet marketing product.

The actual "secret" is that there really isn't one. Nothing about the process is anything one would think would be called "secret" knowledge if they saw it. Internet marketing comes down to the right steps in the right order. When you know those steps you can repeat them over and over again regardless of your niche since it's designed to eliminate guess work. Articles, ebooks, and internet marketing websites often dodge this order and those steps. If internet marketing is so easy, then why doesn't every know this information and be able to find it freely?

If you've been in internet marketing for any length of time you know you've spent a lot of your own time, money, and effort in learning just the smallest thing. Professional marketers were just like you before, learning the ropes themselves. It has taken them just as much time, money, and effort to learn the steps, the order, and where to market their ideas. This is why that information is never given away. They, like you, have put too much of their own time, effort and money and their own sacrifices to be successful to let that information go freely. Even with that knowledge it will still come down to you to make it work, since it really isn't that remarkable of information. If it's just handed to you, most people will never make use of it, however, if there's some cost the information is much more highly regarded and it's value understood.
